Sailing guide
Your ship is your home, your warehouse and your weapon. Wind matters: sailing with the wind is fastest. Different hulls handle the wind differently, and many ships have oars for calm water.
Steering
W raises more sail, S takes it in, A/D steer. X drops anchor. Press F near a harbour or beach to dock or go ashore.
Damage
Ships have separate hull, sail and rudder health. Low sails slow you down, a broken rudder makes steering sluggish, and if the hull hits zero you sink. Repair at any shipyard.
Ship classes
- Trade ships carry the most cargo.
- Pirate ships are quick and good at boarding.
- Adventure ships are fast, with a bonus to exploration.
- Gunships carry the most cannons.
Fittings
Fit cannons, better sails and hull plating from the ship window (O). See Cannons & fittings.
Legends
At sea you might meet one of the Legends, famous captains who tow, escort or help you.
Perils
Long voyages bring perils: fire, leaks, rats, scurvy and storms. Carry the right supplies.
